In conjunction with The Brooklyn Public Library, I’m proud to announce my NEW art exhibition ¡Mil Gracias!: The Art and Illustration of John Parra, starting Sat. Jan. 11th through Apr. 13th at The Bklyn Central Library/Youth Wing:, The exhibit features over forty select original works from my picture book career, celebrating stories, important heroes, and Latino culture. Location: 10 Grand Army Plaza, Brooklyn, NY.

It’s been an amazing past few days starting with the Eric Carle Honors, a trip to the MET, hanging out with family, Pizza at Grimaldi’s in Brooklyn, seeing Hamilton on Broadway, author/artist panel at Books Of Wonder, passing Robert De Niro on the street, and finally the Global Citizens concert in Central Park with Queen, Alicia Keys, HER, and more. So grateful!

I’m honored to be part of this year’s Carle Honors Art Auction benefit. You can bid now on a John Parra original: FRIDA PAINTS IN BED (acrylic on illustration board) used in the award-winning picture book: FRIDA KAHLO AND HER ANIMALITOS (2017) (written by Monica Brown). The auction features original works of art donated by some of the industry’s most celebrated picture book artists. Bidding opens online on Friday, August 30 and can be placed online in advance of the event, or in-real time at the Carle Honors onsite that night or via absentee bid, ending Thursday, September 26 at 9:00 sharp.
